About David Rogers
You know when you ask kids what they want to be when they grow up they almost always have an answer. Fireman, policeman, doctor, race car driver. I have always known exactly what I would be from the earliest time that I can remember. Although I have strayed off course a few times, I am, right now, exactly where I have always known that I would be...an artist.
I've made my living as a full time professional artist for the past 13 years now, but I have always known what I was supposed to be doing since I was a child, even when I wasn't doing it.
I never went to college, but I have been on a course of self directed studies for many years now and will always consider myself a student of the arts because there's always something to learn.
I live in Central California about two hours away from the San Francisco bay area. This worked out great when I first began doing art shows. I did over 40 juried art shows per year all over central California for several years, and then failing health forced me to stop. I was going to have to figure out another way to sell art if I was going to make a living doing what I loved to do. That's when I found the internet.
Those were interesting times. When I first began selling prints online, I had to have my wife show me how to turn on the computer. Needless to say, being the very right brained sort of person that I am, there was quite a steep learning curve to get over. It's amazing to think now how far I've come since those days. That was a few years ago. Now you can find my art prints on many different web sites.
I think now looking back, that the health issues I had were really a blessing in disguise because it forced me to re-evaluate the way I was doing things. Now I have much more time to paint and I have much more time to spend with my family.
If you're familiar with my artwork you know that I like to paint many different subjects. I'm just as happy painting a vineyard one day and then possibly a labrador the next. My interests are quite varied and I paint what I feel like painting. It's as simple as that.
If I'm not in the studio, or in front of a computer, you can usually find me on a river somewhere wetting a hook. This website is dedicated to my second love of fly fishing. Enjoy!
